Modifying vs. extending: University of Warsaw experiences
We have been using Moodle continuously for more than five years. Starting with 1.4.3, we upgraded it through 1.6, 1.8, up to 1.9 which we are using currently. During that time, responding to our teachers’ needs we have created many custom features that needed maintaining through all of the upgrades. In this part of the workshops we share our experiences of long-time maintaining of the Moodle platform.
    Approx duration: 15 min.
    Facets of integration
    • User authorization
    • Course enrolment
    • Grade management
An e-course is no different than normal course — it should be possible to authorize and enroll students the same way it is done with normal classes. Since it is conducted on-line, the grades might also be automatically transferred to a university’s student management system. We look closer at creating Moodle plug-ins: API, plug-in lifecycle..etc.
    Approx duration: 2–3h
    New features of Moodle 2.0
Stable version of Moodle 2.0 is scheduled to be released in mid–2010. In this part, we take a closer look at integrating it with other information systems.
